La Colombière is an entire day school with two sections; Pre-Primary (Nursery), Primary following the Rwanda National curriculum. The School is headed by a 9-member Board of Governors, a Principal, and a Director of Studies. Other than the Board of Directors, the School has a Parents’ Committee constituted of a President, Vice-President, and a Secretary, linking parents and the School administration.
The Nursery section with 12 streams has Nursery 1 (for the 3 years old), 2 (for the 4 years old), and 3 (for the 5 years old), managed by a team of 31 professionals in nursery teaching. The Primary section is supported by 63 dedicated and professional teachers, with Francophone and Anglophone sub-sections. In the English Section, French is taught as a subject and English is taught as a subject in the French section up to Primary Five in an accelerated way, with one period per day.
La Colombiere has ample infrastructures that are ample to rhyme with the class sizes of 30 pupils in the nursery level and 35 in the primary level. The school library, science laboratory and computer laboratory stocked with 45 computers are among the supporting facilities.
Much as we are following the national curriculum, we have a dynamic team of teachers that has borrowed leaf in the best teaching practices from some of the neighboring countries. We do spare neither resources nor efforts to get teachers and students the best textbooks, charts, and other learning and teaching tools. Regular refresher courses are provided so that our teachers can keep abreast with modern teaching methods and practices.
At La Colombière, we have used our experience in teaching and administration to mold a very competitive breed of learners that are admired wherever they go here in Rwanda and on the global scene. We strive to bring the best out of every child.
Teaching is a noble job.
