The local singer-songwriter Bruce Itahiwacu, famously known by his stage name as Bruce Melodie, has signed a contract with “Food Bundles Ltd” a company involved in distributing fresh food on a deal worth one billion Rwandan Francs.
This made him the first artist to have signed such a valuable business deal of this kind signed in Rwanda.
The deal that if all parties abide by the provisions has a range of 2 years (2021-2023) and it follows other lucrative deals that the 'Katapila' hitmaker has been signing for the last consecutive year.
However, the spread of the news, especially the value of the contract has cast out a doubt on whether or not the amount stated was true or a rumor.
Multiple showbiz journalists during the press conference kept stomping questions at the two deal makers-the company and Bruce Melodie if it was not the fake news made by superstars to attract attention but Dioscore Shikama, the company’s founder, refuted the claims and confirmed that the deal is really worth Rwf 1 billion. Later on, a press release followed which also reiterated the same information.
“We wanted to change the history of the extraordinary work of the Rwandan music industry,” asserted him.
The company, Food Bundles, through the joint press release communicated that they are convinced that Bruce Melodie as a distinguished musician artist and remarkable celebrity from Rwanda under the management of Cloud9 Entertainment will help Food Bundles achieve its mission of distributing fresh food across cities in Africa and the Middle East, especially Dubai and Qatar.
The partnership deal has been initiated to educate the use of eCommerce across food markets, promoting digital inclusion in rural areas by guaranteeing a sustainable market for smallholder farmers as well as promoting an affordable healthy lifestyle associated with the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
In Rwanda, the company has been working with 2000 farmers, but the company intends to multiply the number by 100 times. Shikama also stated that about 40% of agricultural harvest does not reach the market. Food Bundles, however, as he said, will help people get their products to the market.
Through this business partnership with Bruce Melodie, they intend to reduce 40% of the products which do not reach the market to 10%. They also intend to get at least 10000 customers daily.
During the press conference, Bruce Melodie said that he was proud of where the level of his music career was reaching.
“I have been working in the music industry for a long time, but it has never been on this level. I am ready to work well with this company, as usual,” he added.
Recently, Bruce Melodie has also signed a contract with Kigali Arena worth Rwf 150 million as its brand ambassador for the next three years with a shared objective to position the venue as a regional entertainment hub.
