Around 11:00 mid-day, a fire gutted into the student’s dormitories at Rwanda Polytechnics Integrated Regional College Kigali leaving some of the scholastic materials burnt.
No fatality reports or students said to have been injured in the accident but scholastic materials were burnt.
One of the scholastic materials destroyed by fires includes mattresses, computers and telephones, and beds as well other school essentials.
The causes of the fire accidents are not known yet a short circuit is suspected to be the cause.
October last year saw the gates of the IPRC Kigali temporarily shut down premises amid investigations of theft and misappropriation of resources. Pending investigations, the school administration informed students to leave the premises until notification.
IPRC Kigali was, however, reopened in November amid ongoing investigations that led to the 20 people being investigated and detained. Officials including Principal, Diogene Mulindahabi and many others have since then.
