Groupe Schoolaire Kacyiru primary school win Blooming Buds with 32 out of 6 in the Interprimary School championship basket ball games.
The friendly game was held yesterday at Groupe Schooliare Kacyiru Primary School I Basket Ball courts.
Hemedi Assoumani a referee of the interschool second division of basketball on primary levels told The Campus that the tournament seeks to tap talented and future sports icons in the country.
“We want that by the time students reach 15 years they are able to play well with the ball and basics of basketball.
You see the students feel the game and there are some that can potentially become good players in the time to come,” he said.
Reflecting on the name of the tournament, Hemedi said, the Kagame Cup is named after President Paul Kagame to honor his 'sponsorship and love of sports'.
“The tournament is called so because it sponsored by the President Kagame,” he said adding " and his unwavering love of sports."
On anotherhand, David Tangama, the Head Coach for the Blooming Buds Primary School said though they have failed they are going to do practice so to win the next game.
The tournament is aimed at promoting skills of young talents at grassroots levels of primary and starts from the interprimary level on sector level to district level and final stages at country level.
It is expected that the winners of Interschool Championship will scoop away the Kagame Cup late June this year.
