Dr. Milcah Aziz, the Headmistress and Founder of Blooming Buds, a Kindergarten school based in Kigali have won a recognition award for her pivotal role in contributing to Rwanda’s education and as an Asian and the only Indian in the educational service category.
The event dubbed Asia-Rwanda Relations Edition and Awarding Ceremony took place this weekend at Serena Hotel, Kigali and was sponsored by 1000 hills Events, Visit Rwanda and Rwanda Women Magazine.
Milcah commended the first-ever award recognition emphasizing her worth paying efforts. “I’m glad to reap the seeds I have sown in Rwanda's education sector and love in the hearts and minds of little children. This is the first time I’ve received such recognition,” she said.
In addition, the 1000 Hills events, the company which organized the award commented on the award with recognition of her role in Rwanda's education sector “Blooming buds founder and Principal Dr. Milcah James on receiving an award on your contribution to education in Rwanda. It is so wonderful when your work is recognized and appreciated. Blooming buds Nursery and Primary is located in Kacyiru at the former White Dove Global Prep Campus,” the company said congratulating her.
Bernadette Nimugire, a teacher at the Blooming Buds school, said, the award will boost the school's visibility in the long run. “Parents are going to trust the school. Also as teachers, we are going to feel proud for the school that won an award,” she said.
For the first time, the schools' students will sit for the Primary Leaving Examination this year.
Blooming Buds is known for its exemplary primary school instruction in French and Kinyarwanda and as a result, last year won a competition for Kinyarwanda reading competition for primary students in which also its student Sheja Gwiza, a P5 student, won the sector-level competition in Kacyiru-Kigali.
The school is known for its experienced teachers with superb quality care and education built on reputation.
Blooming Buds a bilingual school launched in 2012 has been graduating its students with a nursery diploma certificate. Approximately 800 children have completed their nursery education at the school.
Milcah Aziz also opened Little Flowers in 2014, a charity school that offers free education as well as scholastic materials and meals to helpless children.
Dr. Milcah Aziz is a Ph.D. holder in English Language and Literature from the University of Osmania, Hyderabad India, Masters degree in English, Masters degree in Education, Masters degree in Journalism among other qualifications.
