The 21-year-old's commitment to learning and personal development continued to push her to breakthrough through beauty pageant scrutiny to the crown of Miss Uganda 2023-2024.
Tumukunde is currently in a pivotal period of academic choice, considering the paths of Law or Journalism for her future. Her dedication to her studies, combined with her linguistic prowess, showcases a well-rounded individual with a keen intellect.
As rumors swirled regarding her nationality, Tumukunde addressed the issue with grace and wit. "I've grown up in Uganda in Buganda. People are basing on my looks to say I'm Rwandan," she clarified, highlighting the significance of embracing one's roots while pursuing individual aspirations.
Despite facing skepticism about her Miss Uganda 2023 win, Tumukunde remained steadfast. "Since I'm not a judge, I don't know where people got that information from. The judges did what they did, and I believe I did my best," she asserted, showcasing the resilience and determination forged through her educational journey.
Beyond the books and academic halls, Tumukunde ventured into the world of professional modeling in 2020. Her love for learning and the pursuit of excellence echo in her response to critics, "When you have a dream, you work hard toward it."
Adding a global dimension to her journey, Tumukunde is now set to represent Uganda in the 71st Miss World pageant, hosted by India in Mumbai on March 9. This marks India's second time hosting the oldest existing international beauty pageant, with the first hosting being in 1996, albeit controversial.
The pageant was last held in 1996 in Bengaluru. Reita Faria became the first Indian woman to win Miss World Crown in the year 1966. The event will be held at the magnificent G-20 site, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, and the dazzling Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
