When she was still young, her Dad always told her to think big and have big dreams with expectations to live her own life independently.
From then, Nikita Malayika tried to discover her hidden talents as she grew up until she found that she is strongly skilled in string designing a new art design where the drawer uses objects to shape another desirable object.
With the support of her father, Malayika managed to reach a level where she started to do string designing as a business.
Malayika having grown up near a carpentry workshop also motivated her in a way that she used to get materials to use in art like wood, colors and others easily.
At the age of 21, Malayika started doing string design as a business but also juggling academics at UNILAK Campus where she is pursuing Information systems and Management.

As a student pursuing Information systems and Management, she has managed to acquire enough skills required in contemporary designing and art.
Malayika says lockdown threatened economic activities but the vacant period triggered her sleeping talent to awake where she started making different designs and house decors as well as jewelers made out of threads, mats and wood.
“I started string art and designing as a business in August 2020 when schools were under lockdown due to covid-19, I found myself doing nothing yet I had experience in string art and therefore I had to start,” Malayika said.
"When schools were closed I had enough time to waste and I saw this as an advantage to exploit my talent."
Malayika's clientele is largely the students from the school but products are sometimes sold to administrators.
Malayika advises fellow girls to remove their hands in their pockets and work hard for them to be financially independent.
"Expecting things from boys or parents yet they have hands is a weak mentality," she advised. There is nothing good like enjoying what you worked for than having fun in something that came from someone else's sweat.
Malayika reminds the student's especially the undergraduates to always at least look for something to be doing besides school to attain experience in various skills, which will help them after completing studies.
As of now, each finished products stand for Rwf5000 and above depending on the quality of the product.
