The schools have tightened control measures in the wake to control and mitigate the widespread disease of mpox.
The concerns follow after the cases of mpox has been reported in the districts of the country including Bugesera and others. The disease has also been reported in the neighboring countries of Burundi, DRC, and Uganda.
some schools that didn’t have soaps and washing points and therefore this raises concerns have installed all the necessary requirements.
Teachers are requested to remain vigilant and report cases of mpox whenever they discover such cases.
A total of 21,000 of the suspected mpox cases were reported in DRC including the 5,000 confirmed cases and 700 deaths.
On the similar note, the WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described the upsurge of the mpox in the DRC and other African countries as a public health emergency of international concern.
“The emergence of a new clade of mpox, its rapid spread in eastern DR and the reporting of cases in several neighboring countries are very worrying. On top of outbreak of other mpox clades in DRC and other countries in Africa, its clear that a coordinated international response is needed to stop these outbreaks and save lives,” Tedros said while addressing IHR Emergency Committee of independent experts.
Of recent, President Kagame meet Dr. Albert Bourla, Chairman and CEO of global pharmaceutical company Pfizer whereby the two discussed partnerships, with a focus on expanding equitable access to healthcare.
