The University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies (UTB) are currently celebrating the 2019/2020 Rwandan women volleyball trophy having been the defending champions after winning 3-2 sets over the APR women volleyball club.
This year's season has been affected by the Covid-19 outbreak through different changes made over the volleyball calendar but that never changed the UTB's mission of defending their title.
Speaking to Benitah, one of the best performers in UTB Women VC and last year's most valued player (MVP) of the season, she said that they were nearly losing the game having not been the key advice from their coach.
"We increased our morale and due to the advice given by our coach in the middle of the game to behave maturely and play without APR's stress, we finally made it," says Benitah.
UTB's volleyball club most known for its green clothing has shown how possible it is for universities to lead not only in the academic fields but also in sports as it keeps on doubling trophies from the Rwandan volleyball league.
Munezero Valentine, one of the APR women volleyball club best performers also congratulated UTB women volleyball club for the achievement and added that her team has done all it takes to be the winners but points never met up.
UTB Women Volleyball Club
UTB Women Volleyball club won the final game over APR after a great come back where APR Women volleyball club had grabbed the first two sets and later failed to defend them. The winning team then advanced to overtake with three sets to end the match.
The competing teams in this year's playoff finals of the women volleyball league are the same teams that competed in the men's playoff finals however UTB men's volleyball team lost before APR men's volleyball team 2-3 sets hence loss of the league title.
