The Passing away of La Colombiere Founder
The founder of La Colombiere, Francoise Nyirantagorama, passed away triggering tributes from both high-ranking officials and her students who have so far pursued their successful careers.
She was aged 82 when she died.
Nyirantagorama started her teaching profession back in 1958 at Ecole Menagerie in Nyanza but later decided to start her own school, and that's how La Colombiere came into existence.
Many tributes poured in including those of her excellency, the first lady of Rwanda who described her as a 'candle that consumes itself to light the way for others.
“A good teacher is like a candle: it consumes itself to light the way for others.” Dear Director, you have made a commitment to training several of us. With passion and encouragement, you have preserved us.” First Lady Jeannette Kagame twitted.
University of Rwanda and Sweden in Rwanda conduct an annual planning dialogue.
During the sessions, DVC for Administration and Finance commended the achievements and success stories behind the partnership since its establishment 20 years ago and noted that collaboration is all about changing people’s lives.
On another hand, Christina Wedekull, Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in Rwanda, hailed the powerful pathways created by women who graduated through the program in their leadership, research and academic roles, noting that 24% of PhD training will be local at the University of Rwanda which will make institutional capacity more sustainable.
Institutions were awarded during the National Dialogue on TVET for Youth Employment and Future of Work.
Minister of Labor, FanFan Rwanyindo and Minister of Education Dr. Uwamariya Valentine alongside the State Minister for ICT and TVET presided over the dailogue.
One of the private companies awarded for supporting TVET and promoting skills development includes PSF, MTN Rwanda, C&D Pink Mango, Chancen International, Edified Generation Rwanda and STECOMA.
