Rwanda Primus League stopped since the first case of COVID-19 is found in Rwanda from that moment all sports activities ceased especially those that gather a big crowd of fans.
According to FERWAFA, Rwanda Primus League will resume today and the regulating body has so far cleared 15 clubs on spot.
The teams that were given a go head include APR FC, Police FC, AS Kigali, Kiyovu Sports, Rutsiro FC, Gorilla FC, Bugesera FC, Gasogi United, Rayon Sports, Police FC, AS Kigali, Rayon Sports, AS Muhanga, Espoir and Mukura among others.
As a result, some clubs have started playing friendly matches in preparation for these tough games.
This league will be played in the group stage format and the first two teams will go for the next round.
On December 11, 2020, when the league was canceled on its third day, Marines FC topped the list with 7 points while Musanze FC had 6 but all of these will not be considered in this new format season.
Sports analysts, however, warn there are possible challenges that might hinder the one-month league due to COVID-19 hindrances including those related to low levels of physical fitness of players, absence of fans due to protection measures against Covid-19, unstable financial status, increase of COVID-19 cases in clubs and costs of measurements and others
According to reports, FERWAFA wants the season to end on time strictly from 1st May to 29th June 2021.
